Based on the high nutritional value and growing consumer demand for fruits and vegetables with superfood status, Market 52 was inspired to create a ready-to-eat snack size serving of fresh blueberries. The next step was to create a brand identity that would appeal to adults looking for healthy snacks and children looking to unearth something fun in the produce aisle.
The creation of a brand for ready-to-eat blueberries required carving out a brand new category in the U.S. value-added segment. The product needed to appeal to all age groups, and attract attention based on the nutritional health benefits and snacking convenience.
The foundation of the Brainberries brand is first and foremost the name “Brainberries” which Full Steam derived from actual research on the Internet. Scientists and researchers had already coined the term brainberries based on the cognitive benefits of blueberries.
Next came the character, a blueberry shaped “brainiac” complete with glasses and a calyx, to personify the brand. A fresh, bright color scheme was selected to give energy to the supercharged fruit as well as to subliminally suggest a packet of candy. A partial berry-shaped window showcases the freshness and quality of the fruit.
