Steinbeck Festival Brochure
Held in Salinas, California and at accompanying fringe events around the world, the annual Steinbeck Festival is a unique, global festival of art and literature, combining books, talks, food, tours and visual and performing arts into a four-day creative adventure.
Although affiliated with the National Steinbeck Center, the Festival assumes its own unique theme and visual style each year. Assigned the 2011 motif of “Friends and Foes,” Salinas-based Full Steam Marketing & Design was tasked with encapsulating the Festival organizer’s vision of a “creative clash of ideas and partnerships”. The result was a striking combination of pop art and graphic novel, incorporating thought-provoking illustration, dramatic, angular shapes, a strong, primary color palette, and a subtle blend of background textures suggesting depth and complexity.
