Visalia-based Market 52 was ready to go to market with a new ready-to-eat snack size serving of fresh blueberries. Looking to emphasize the nutritional value and snacking convenience of the product, Market 52 wanted to develop a brand look and feel that would appeal to adults of all ages seeking healthy snacks and children out shopping with their parents for school lunches.

During the logo development process, Salinas-based Full Steam Marketing & Design focused first on the product name. As a result of research conducted by scientists and members of the medical community, the nickname “brainberries” was already being used informally to convey the cognitive benefits of fresh blueberries. Full Steam decided to take the name to the next level and associate it with the new Market 52 snack product.

To appeal to the younger audience, the name brainberries was then personified by a blueberry shaped “brainiac” complete with over-sized glasses and a calyx. The font was selected for its plump and rounded characteristics, and the shade of blue is representative of the fresh fruit.
